October 2011 Email Migration:
iPhone, iPad & iPod Changes
These instructions are for an iPhone running iOS 5. Other iOS versions or devices (iPad, iPod) may differ slightly in appearance or wording, but should otherwise follow similar steps. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us for further help.
Before You Begin: Remove Existing Account
If you already have your Dragonfli email account set up on your iPhone, we recommend removing it and re-creating your account from scratch. This seems to result in the most reliable operation.
To remove your account from your iPhone:
- Launch the Settings app
- Tap on Mail, Contacts, Calendars
- Tap on your Dragonfli account
- Tap on Delete Account, and tap to confirm Delete Account when prompted
Great! You’re now ready to proceed with the setup instructions below.
Step 1: Launch "Settings"
Launch the Settings app. If you aren’t on the main Settings screen (you can tell by the presence of a back arrow at the top-left of the screen) tap the back arrow until you return to the main Settings screen.
Step 2: Add Mail Account
Once Settings is open, scroll to the Mail, Contacts, Calendars menu and tap on it.
In the Accounts section, tap Add Account….
On the list of account types, tap Other at the bottom. Then, tap Add Mail Account.
Step 3: "New Account" Information
Once in the New Account section set:
- Name is set to your full name (John Appleseed in the example)
- Address is set to your full email address (example@me.com in the example)
- Password is set to your email account password
- Description is set to the label you’d like to see in your Mail app to distinguish this account from other accounts on your iPhone
Once you’ve filled out these 4 fields, tap Next on the top-right of the screen.
Step 4: "New Account" Information: Servers
Ensure that IMAP is selected on the next screen.
Review that your Name, Address, and Description are shown accurately.
In the Incoming Mail Server section:
- NEW! set Host Name to mail.hostedemail.com
- set User Name to your full email address
- Password should be pre-filled; if not, ensure it’s set to your email account password
In the Outgoing Mail Server section:
- NEW! set Host Name to mail.hostedemail.com
- set User Name to your full email address
- set Password to your email account password
Once you’ve filled out these fields, tap Next on the top-right of the screen.
Step 5: Save Settings
Your iPhone will verify the settings and will respond with an error if any of the username or password information was entered incorrectly. If so, simply re-check your entry fields and try again.
Once verification passes, you’ll be shown an option to include saving Notes to the server. If you have more than one iOS device, or if you’d like to keep your Notes backed-up on the server, we recommend sliding the toggle to ON.
Next, tap Save on the top-right of the screen.
Done! Your account has been added.
Step 6: Verify Email
To check that everything’s working properly:
- Click the Home button to return to your iPhone’s home screen
- Launch the Mail app
- You should see your new account under the Accounts section. Tap on it.
At this point, all the folders & mail from your account should be loaded on your iPhone.
Step 7: Link Special Folders
Click the Home button to return to your iPhone’s home screen.
Launch the Settings app. If you aren’t on the main Settings screen (you can tell by the presence of a back arrow at the top-left of the screen) tap the back arrow until you return to the main Settings screen.
Once Settings is open, scroll to the Mail, Contacts, Calendars menu and tap on it.
Find your new account in the Accounts section, and tap on it.
Under the IMAP heading, your Account and email will show. Tap on it.
Scroll to the bottom of the Account page, and tap Advanced.
Under Mailbox Behaviors:
NEW! tap Drafts Mailbox and then tap Drafts under the On the server section in the screen that appears; tap the Advanced back arrow on the top-left of the screen to return to the Advanced screen
NEW! tap Sent Mailbox and then tap Sent Items under the On the server section in the screen that appears; tap the Advanced back arrow on the top-left of the screen to return to the Advanced screen
NEW! tap Deleted Mailbox and then tap Trash under the On the server section in the screen that appears; tap the Advanced back arrow on the top-left of the screen to return to the Advanced screen
Tap the Account back arrow on the top-left of the screen to return to the Account screen.
